[Iridescent Food] Kouzu Malaysia, TTDI

Hollaa everyone! I’m back with a new food review. Kouzu, located at the center of TTDI neighborhood, along the street with other cafes nearby. A mixture of Japanese Tapas Bar & Restaurant, known as Japas.

Parking was quite easy to find as we were lucky to find one right in front of Kouzu. Though weekends might be more crowded as more people come out to chill & dine in Kouzu.

One thing that we’ve noticed when we walked in is the colorful Japanese styled- manga paintings on the walls of the restaurant which we really liked!

Hot green tea for me as I didn’t want to drink anything cold plus it’s better for digestion for all of the food that we will be trying~ ^^

Sashimi Salad

My personal favorite appetizer from Kouzu. Perhaps because I’m a big fan of sashimi & I like it as they are fresshhh!

Roasted Pumpkin Salad

An alternative for people who don’t eat sashimi/raw fish. Pumpkins are nice & crunchy, just the way I like it. But of course nothing beats the sashimi, at least in my opinion (teehee).

Pan Seared Tuna Foie Gras

Lovee the texture of the tuna, it is cooked just right combine with the foie gras, at first I thought it was a rather an unusual combination but when I tried it, it blends together very well.

Baked Roll Sushi

Think cheese baked rice + sushi roll. What more can I say?                                         Oishiii!

Creamy Baked Oyster

Total of five delicious succulent oysters covered in cheese topped with masago.. delicious! Enough to share around with your friends (or do I mean friend?)!

Stoned Grilled Sirloin

How often are you served with sirloin steak on a grilled stone served with potato cubes with a sprinkle of herbs & spices on top?  Tender, juicy, deliciousss! One of my personal favorite & for a reasonable price! Definitely a MUST try!

Japanese Escargot Pizza

Good snack to chill with your friends with a glass of beer. Crunchy escargot & look at the massive toppings! Yums!

Salmon Pizza

Another choice of pizza topping, Kouzu’s 4 inch Salmon Pizza. The size is a bit small for me, but great finger food snack. 😉

Sanuki Udon

My favorite pasta dish here! Think aglio olio + udon! A Must try for pasta lovers. Appetizing & a lil bit spicy which I absolutely love~

Ishiyaki Stoned Bowl (Donburi)

Sashimi Top Avocado

Grilled Truffle Beef

Ishiyaki Stoned Bowl (Donburi)– the most fulfilling comfort food in Kouzu. Topped with tender unagi, scallops, vinegared prawns, capelin roe & a runny egg, all perfectly proportioned. As for the Sashimi Top Avocado, well, its sashimi again. Anything sashimi is my favorite! Last but not least in the donburi category, is the Grilled Truffle Beef. Absolutely tender or juicy! The picture tells it all. One of the best Beef donburi I’ve eaten. =)

Kouzu has also a wide range of Yakitori, consisting of Wings, Sirloin, Rock Lobster & Shitake. All very delicious & suitable for snack & chilling. Kouzu’s best seller, the Sirloin Yakitori & also my favorite among all of them!

Pair Kouzu’s Japas food with a wide selections of drinks to chill & dine!

Feeling thirsty after looking at all the pictures that I tooked.

Take a look at Kouzu’s private dining room! So cozy! You can book this place with a minimum of 6 pax. First come first serve!

Ambiance: 8.5/10
Food: 8/10
Verdict: Friendly service, nice & casual place to dine in & chill

Check out Kouzu’s Mother’s Day Menu staring from 12th May!

[Iridescent Food] Popular Taiwanese Milk Tea!

Hollaa everyone!

I’m back again with another new post. This time I would like to share with you a Taiwanese popular milk tea drink called Chun Cui He!

The other day, my boyfie and I went out for dinner with his friends to a steamboat restaurant at Kepong. So, after chit chatting & finishing our dinner his friend suggested to go to Mix convenience store nearby. We agreed and so we went… and once we entered boyfie immediately saw Chun Cui He milk tea!

So we ended up buying them and boyfie says it is very delicious (he drank it before in Taiwan) so I’ve decided to try it too.

In Taiwan, these Chun Cui He milk teas come in a variety of different flavors such as Green Tea Latte, Sumiyaki, Mocha, Earl Grey Milk Tea, Oolong Milk Tea & many more! However, what we saw in the shelves that day are only Cafe au Lait & Green Milk Tea.

Here are more pictures of me, very excited to try both flavors! ❤

Cafe au Lait

Sluurrrpps! After trying the Cafe au Lait, I really loved the rich aroma of the tea in the drink plus the smooth taste of the milk which comes with it is just soooo  flavorful & yumms! In my opinion, Cafe au Lait is suitable for milk tea lovers & people who love the stronger scent of tea in their drinks.

Green Milk Tea

We then decided to try the 2nd bottle, which is the Green Milk Tea… After the first sip of the drink, I got hooked! This is definitely my cup of tea! I love it so much as the heavenly taste of the green tea & milk passed through my tongue, I fell in love with the rich, aromatic, full-flavored taste of the drink. You guys have to try this! especially this Green Milk Tea, really yums!

In the end, both my boyfie & I chose the Green Milk Tea as our personal favourite. ❤

All of you please try it too! Let me know which is your favorite flavor & what are the flavors that you’ve tried? Comment down below & don’t forget to Follow me on my blog!

[Iridescent Heart] Feeling Upset

Hollaa everyone 🙂

Just feeling a lil upset these few days.. I normally scroll through Facebook every morning, after making a cup of coffee for breakfast. And well, these few days have been quite upsetting to me as I scroll through my news feed, a lot has been happening, where news of the senior lady got hit by the motorbike in Penang, the passenger that got dragged off overbooked United flight in Chicago & the recent one Islamic bomb explosion in 2 places of worship in Egypt.

Sipping my cup of coffee this morning, thinking, seeing all of these things happening in our world today, what can we do? Only to helplessly share posts in social media so that more people are aware of it?

And then a thought came to me, ‘ What we can do is pray.’ As only God is above us, He sees everything and knows everything.

10 God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. Hebrews 6:10

What we can do is lift it all up to Him & not worry. Help others whenever we can, even a small gesture can mean the world to people.

Thank you for reading this.. I’m sorry if this post is a bit too short, but I just felt that I had to share. Thanks for supporting and may GBU everyone. =)

[Iridescent Parenting] Teaching kids about ‘Stranger-Danger’ is NOT enough

Did you know ?
… it takes less than a minute for a predator to lure a child away?
… 90% of childhood sexual abuse occurs by someone the child knows?
… even very young children can be taught some important safety rules and skills?

…because there’s more to keeping kids safe
than just teaching the “stranger-danger” theory.

Forget ‘stranger danger’: ‘Tricky people’ concept helps kids spot sketchy adults

While some parents focus on the idea of “stranger danger” with their kids, Norton says her family chose to teach their kids about “tricky people” — a way of identifying dangerous people created by Pattie Fitzgerald, founder of Safely Ever After, an educational company dedicated to the prevention of childhood sexual abuse.

The Scoop

The mom of four says that had she not warned her kids about “tricky people,” they could have been abducted.

“In a moment of what I deem foggy-thinking ‘pain brain’ I left my two oldest boys–CJ (10) and T-Dawg (8) outside the ER door on a bench to await our kind neighbor who said he was coming to pick them up and take them to school [sic],” Norton recounts on her blog, Time Well Spent. “I had wrongly assumed my neighbor was coming from his house (not somewhere farther away), so my two boys sat out front of the ER for 40 minutes. Not the 5 minutes I had expected. Their story of what had transpired while I had stupidly left them out there alone made me simultaneously sick and grateful.”

While waiting for the neighbor, her sons encountered what Norton calls “their first real-world experience with the freaky, perverted strangers they’ve been intermittently warned about.”

She shares how while the boys waited on that bench, they were approached by a woman with two men, who asked them to “help them out by going into the bathroom where her boyfriend was hiding from the doctor and see if they could convince him to come out and get treated.”

Having been warned about so-called “tricky people,” CJ told the adults “no thank you” repeatedly. But the woman didn’t give up and begged the boys, “Please? You could really save his life if you’d just go in that bathroom and tell him it’s safe to come out.”

Luckily, the neighbor soon arrived to pick up the boys, but Norton wrote, “not before they saw a third adult male come out from the bathroom, jump into the car with these other three hooligans and drive off.”

Norton wrote, “Tricky people are the new strangers. One of (Fitzgerald’s) guidelines for knowing what people are unsafe is … tricky people ask kids for help. If a safe adult needs help, they’ll ask another adult.” In fact, CJ had remembered that rule, telling his mom that’s how he knew it was a trick. “Mom, I knew they were tricky people because they were asking us for help. Adults don’t ask kids for help,” he said.

The Outcome

“Most of the time, kids are learning ‘stranger danger,’ which is cute and it rhymes but isn’t really effective. ‘Tricky people’ is certainly more effective because most strangers are not dangerous. … Kids think a stranger is going to be somebody who is kind of scary looking or scary sounding, but statistically, if someone wants to harm a child, they are not going to appear scary; they’re going to be charming, have an enticing offer, and seem friendly.”

She adds, “Instead of looking for the boogie man, a child should look for the person asking them to do something that doesn’t sound right or ask if the adult is trying to get them to break one of their family’s safety rules or trick them.”

In fact, I already talked to them about this story because it scared me so much. But Fitzgerald says parents shouldn’t frighten kids, but aim to empower them instead.

“We shouldn’t tell kids that there are bad people out there who want to hurt them. Everything should be very positive,” she says.

To end this blogpost, here are a few quotes~:

‘Just as we teach our children how to ride a bike, we need to teach them how to navigate social media and make the right moves that will help them. The physical world is similar to the virtual world in many cases. It’s about being aware. We can prevent many debacles if we’re educated. Amy Jo Martin

”Parents are the ultimate role models for children. Every word, movement and action has an effect. No other person or outside force has a greater influence on a child than the parent.” Bob Keeshan

[Iridescent Pregnancy] Pregnancy Guru

Here, we give you the top tips to go through pregnancy easier.

  1.  Morning Blues

Having troubles with morning sickness? Fret not. Here are some tips to help you~:

  • Eat mini-meals throughout the day. Eating smaller meals more frequently can ease digestion and keep your stomach filled. Nausea is even worse on an empty stomach. While you may want to opt for bland foods, experts recommend eating whatever you have a hankering for, as long as it’s healthy.
  • Have ginger. It’s a proven soother for upset stomachs, so try grating some fresh ginger into your tea or juice to get the full benefits. I usually buy my ginger tea from Ginger cubes, BMS Organics.
  • Try B6. A supplement of this vitamin may help your stomach empty faster. Ask your family doctor for the appropriate prescription. =)

2. Food cravings & Aversions

If the craving is healthy and you’re not scarfing down bags of chips or pints of ice cream, then you can indulge! After all, we are eating for two, right? Here’s a good rule: Limit your treats to one 75-to-100-calorie serving per day. For food aversions, try substituting these foods for the ones you can’t stomach:

5 Popular Mistakes When Feeding Babies_2

  • If you can’t drink milk, substitute low-fat cheese, cottage cheese or yogurt. Try sneaking milk into sauces, soups, oatmeal or pancakes.
  • If you can’t swallow veggies, munch on fruits rich in beta-carotene, like mango, apricot and cantaloupe.
  • If meat turns you off, try beans, or hide beef, chicken or turkey in sauces, soups and stews.

3. Feeling Fatigue?

Feeling tired 24 hours a day is one of the most common side effects of pregnancy.

One hidden culprit for excessive fatigue is anemia. Extra iron is needed to make the baby’s blood cells, and if you don’t have enough iron, the baby will take what it needs from your body, shortchanging you. Your doctor will give you a blood test during your first prenatal visit to check your iron stores. If you don’t have enough, she’s likely to prescribe a supplement.

Ways to combat your tiredness~:

  • Get moving. Even if all you want to do is lie on the couch, take a short walk or just do some light stretching. Twenty minutes a few times a week can give you a lift.
  • Take your prenatal vitamin. It will fill the gaps if your appetite for food is at an all-time low, and because it contains iron, it can help stave off anemia.
  • Sleep when you can. Go to bed earlier, get up later and nap when you can. If you’re working all day, take a 15-minute catnap at your desk.

4. Pee like a champion

Even if you’re not showing yet, your uterus is growing—and that’s causing pressure on your bladder, which never really empties. Plus, your kidneys are working overtime to flush wastes out of your body. The result: a need to pee often. But don’t cut back on liquids, and don’t wait to urinate because holding it can cause a urinary tract infection. To reduce the number of nighttime bathroom trips, stop drinking a few hours before bedtime, cut out caffeine at night (it’s a bladder stimulant) and go one last time before you turn off the light.

5. Acne

You may break out because your hormones are working overtime, causing your skin to produce more oil. Acne may subside later in your pregnancy, but to help control it now:

  • Don’t scrub or overwash your skin. Use a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil to avoid overdrying it. I use Cetaphil all the time now.
  • Switch to an oil-free moisturizer. There’s no reason to add oil to your overly oily skin.
  • Check the labels of the products you use. Glycolic acid is okay, but ditch those containing benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, retinols or steroids: They could potentially cause birth defects. For body, try opting for Natural Handmade Soaps. I’m using Le Savon & selling it too.

6. Swollen breasts

Even though your baby is the size of a comma, your breasts are getting ready to nurse her. Hormonal changes and expanding milk ducts produce a growth spurt, usually around your sixth week of pregnancy, and make your breasts feel swollen and tender. To ease the ache:

  • Buy larger bras with extra rows of hooks for easy adjustments. Don’t waste money on tight front closures.
  • Get a soft cotton “sleep” bra if soreness is preventing you from getting rest—the support will ease the ache.

7. Emotional roller coaster

Hormones, lack of sleep, the reality of pregnancy—all of these can contribute to a roller coaster of emotions. You could feel quiet and withdrawn, elated, worried, angry, tearful or happy-go-lucky—and it’s all perfectly fine.

Of course, it’s better to stay on an even keel as much as you can (your loved ones will thank you), so try to get as much rest and exercise as you can. Finding sympathetic friends also helps—preferably those who are pregnant, online or off.

To end this blog post, here are 3 motivational quotes for all super mommy out there!

To be pregnant is to be vitally alive, thoroughly woman, and undoubtedly inhabited.

The most important thing she’d learned over the years was that there was no way to be a perfect mother and a million ways to be a good one.
